Email errors
<div align=justify>There are several common reasons for being unable to receive emails when using a webmail client. The reasons may be as follows: temporary mail server problems, exceeded quota for the email account, incorrect MX records of the domain, etc. You can perform some client-end checking to find the exact reason for email issue: * '''''Email Quota''''' If the quota for the email account in question has been exceeded, you will not be able to receive email messages any longer. The solution here is to either remove some old messages or increase the space quota for your email account. See more about changing mail quota '''''[http://myidealhost.com/tutorials/Mail_quota here]''''' * '''''Check your domain MX record''''' The Mail Exchange (MX) record is a part of your DNS zone which determines the server currently handling your emails. There are a lot of sites where you can check your MX record (e.g. http://www.mxtoolbox.com/) If you notice that it is configured incorrectly, you should contact your domain name registrar and ask them to change this record to the correct one. Also there is a number of errors you may face with your mail. Below we'll list them together with the possible solutions: * '''''SMTP server is refusing connection attempts''''' Some Internet Service Providers (ISP) block the standard SMTP port (port 25) to prevent SPAM messages sending from their networks. Here's how to, depending on your OS, check whether your ISP blocks port 25: '''1. Check port 25 for Windows''' You can reach the command prompt at "Start -> Run", then type "cmd", press '''Enter''' and run the command below: '''''telnet yourdomain.com 25''''' '''2. Check port 25 for Mac OS''' Each Mac OS is delivered with a preinstalled terminal tool, which is usually located under '''Applications''' directory -> '''Utilities''' sub-directory. After you have opened it, type the following command and press "Enter": '''''telnet yourdomain.com 25''''' '''3. Check port 25 for Linux''' Go to '''Applications => Accessories''', open the terminal tool and execute the following command: '''''telnet yourdomain.com 25''''' The message similar to the one below means that your access isn't blocked: Escape character is '^]'. 220-srv.myidealhost.com ESMTP Exim 4.69 #1 Wed, 04 Jan 2012 11:08:07 +0100 220-We do not authorize the use of this system to transport unsolicited, 220 and/or bulk e-mail. If getting the connection refused message, you can try to use the alternative port for SMTP connection (i.e. 2626). * '''''“Unroutable address” error message''''' The error "Unroutable address / Unroutable mail domain" is a general error which can be caused by several things: · a misspelled email address; for example, you have sent the mail to friend@exampl.net instead of friend@example.net; carefully check the spelling of the recipient email address and try sending the message again; · you have reached the limit of e-mails allowed to be sent out per hour; in this case you should wait for some time and then resend the mail; · the mail server cannot determine the proper route for sending your email because of a DNS configuration error with the recipient's MX records; in this case you should contact the support for the remote server for additional assistance. * '''''Error: Could not complete sender verify''''' This is a common issue which happens when using the cPanel username for authenticating on the SMTP server. Please use the email username instead of whole email ID and this issue will be resolved. </div>
