3 SEO basics
<seo title="3 SEO pillars" metakeywords="seo optimization, optimize web site" metadescription="3 seo pillars" /><div align=justify>The aim of having a site is let people know about you and your services. You may keep checking Google every day to see your rank. But your site is found on page 3 or 4 or even further. Have you done anything wrong? In this case you need to run a little search engine optimization (SEO). Though it may take you some time, it's really worth it. Just a few simple steps and your site will rank better in search engine results, and attract more visitors. '''''1. Do keyword research.''''' In order to attract new customers to your website via search engine results, you'll need to use the same words on your site that people type into a search quire when searching for something online. This is obvious, you may say. But many people use professional jargon they are accustomed to when speaking with their colleagues, and forget that the majority of people won't understand it. So, put yourself in a customer position and choose the keywords you would use to do a search. There are a lot of Google's keyword research tools available on the net. You can use them to find the right keywords for your website. '''''2. Make sure every important page on your site has a unique, accurate title and meta description .''''' The title and meta description of a web page are the most important elements on the page that may help you to rank well in search results. The title of a web page stands for the underlined blue link to the page in search results, and it appears at the top of a web browser window. The meta description of a web page is often used (by Google) as the descriptive text, that appears in the search results below that link. One may say, that the title and meta description act as an ad for your web page. The aim of a web page title is to tell people and search engines exactly what that page is about. It would be nice to include one or two important keywords to attract search engines and the eyes of people looking for your product/service. For your site title to be OK with search engines, make sure it is not longer than 70 characters. Otherwise, search engines will cut a part of it off, and you may miss some important word there. Due to that, you should put your keywords as close to beginning of the title as possible. If your title makes people click immediately on your page link, you've done great. Unlke the page title, the meta description isn't actually used by search engines to determine what your web page is about. Nevertheless, the meta description is important as it helps people to decide whether to click your link in search results or not. In case you don't include a meta description in the code for each page, search engines will pick up some random text from the page, and it may not be the best choice for your purposes. Do your best and write a compelling, accurate meta description for each important page on your website. Last but not least: It is strongly recommended for every page on your site to have its own unique title and meta description. Using repeated titles and meta descriptions within two or more pages makes your site be of lower quality for search engines, and won't make your pages rank high in search results. '''''3. Get your site indexed by search engines.''''' Your site can't be found in search results without being indexed by search engines.
