How to make blogging a piece of cake

Nowadays blogging is gaining more and more popularity and a single person can easily get lost among various 'tweet this', 'click here', 'subscribe for updates', 'watch this', 'share this', 'like this' and others. Having a blog is not that easy and requires time and efforts to make people read it. To have no doubts your blog is functioning properly and providing value to your readers, check the tips below: '''1. Find out your objectives''' Before starting a blog define the following: * the reasons for that; * targeted audience; * the goals you want to achieve with blogging; * the way your blog is going to help you meet your business goals and objectives. '''2. Pay constant and proper attention to marketing''' Do your best to integrate the blog with your business, online/offline marketing, etc. The more and better you can integrate the better your results will be. Though integration may require some investments, if done correctly, that won't take much. It often helps to avoid the Random Acts of Marketing that may damage the whole business. So, don't hesitate and add it to your budget beforehand. '''3. Know your offerings.''' Choosing a topic to write about is not easy. Before doing this, think of the things you are most familiar with. This will ensure you provide the most understandable and easily followed content for your readers and make them pleased with it. Be fair with yourself and do not pretend being an expert on every single topic. '''4. What makes you different?''' Posting daily about the things/events everyone else posts too is not going to differentiate you from others. Think of something interesting to offer your readers. Find some unique relevant content that will differentiate yourself from other bloggers and will make the visitors add your blog to their bookmarks. '''5. Know your readers.''' It is useful to perform various studies to find out the following things: * the people that read your blog; * what makes them read it; * what content is read the most; * What would they like to see more or less of. The answers can be obtained from the blog statistics and asking your readers what they want. You'll be impressed with the amount of information they’ll share with you if they see you do care about them. '''6. Think of your potential readers.''' * what part of audience is still not covered with your blog? * what content may attract them? * what are the most popular blogs and what makes them that popular? * what content is the most topical? Find the answers to these questions and enjoy the result. '''7. Know your data.''' Tools like Google Analytics are of great value to get to know the most visited pages on your blog, time spent there, etc. Though there are a lot of similar tools you can use, Google Analytics is a good one to start with. '''8. Get a reality check.''' If the data shows that your readers are not engaging, sharing, clicking, liking, or commenting, then something is going wrong. Fix it, don’t ignore it. Perform checking on your content, brand experience and overall success of your efforts. If you don’t like what you see in the data, then try changing your policy and watch the result. '''9. Don't give up and look for reasons to justify yourself in case of failure.''' If your blog isn't becoming popular in a blink of an eye, don't blame your lack of budget, inactive readers and so on. Start from yourself and make sure you are not boring yourself. :) Everyone starts from the very beginning and undergo difficulties. Don't give up and keep doing your job. The result will come, sooner or later. '''10. Schedule your blogging.''' Once you have followed the steps above (i.e. defined your objectives, written a plan, etc.), make an editorial calendar. You can begin with deciding upon the themes you are going to write about throughout the year. Make a schedule that defines by week, month and quarter what content you will work on. It will simplify your job and increase the chances to succeed.
