Should an employee be fired, they may take that valuable registration information with them. While it is still possible to get the domain name back, it won't be easy.

Another way of domain name theft involves developers supplying their own information when registering domain names for customers.  Some even list their company name as the legitimate registrant of the customer’s trademark.  In case of a billing dispute, the developer can use the domain to get their demands met.  


Domain theft occurs quite frequently. Keep in mind that your domain name is a piece of intellectual property and do your best to secure it. Fortunately, this is pretty easy to do.  Remember the following rule to be much less susceptible to domain theft: do business with a reliable registrar, keep proper security level and maintain control of your account details.
